Heading a delegation, Bigot arrived in Tehran on Saturday and will stay in Iran for two days to hold talks with senior Iranian officials, including AEOI Head Ali Akbar Salehi, Vice-President for Science and Technology, Sorena Sattari.
Bigot is in Tehran upon the invitation of Salehi who recently visited ITER's headquarters in southern France.
Earlier on Ocober 6, AEOI spokesperson Behrouz Kamalvandi had announced that the good news of joining the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project would be communicated to the public soon. “There has been much progress in AEOI’s efforts to secure an observer state for Iran in the project,” he added.
ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, and also Latin for "the way") is an international nuclear fusion research and engineering megaproject, which will be the world's largest magnetic confinement plasma physics experiment.
